Merry Christmas Tree Cake Pops

It's Christmas Eve, so I'm a tad late in posting this.  But what the heck- better late than never!  Happy Holidays with Christmas Tree cake pops!

I began with shaping the cake balls into cone or bell shapes in green and red colors.  Fun and festive!

Here we've got cake pops in the shape of cones, dipped in green candy coating.  Nice thing about making tree cake pops is that you don't have to be perfectly smooth with the coating on the initial dip since you will be making it look 'branchy'.

To make branchy trees on the cake pops:  the trusty toothpick.
Dip the toothpick in your melted candy coating.  This works best if the coating is thick or slightly cooled.
Gently dab on the coating onto the cake pop.
Here is what it looks like after a few dabs.  Keep this up until it is completely coated.

You should have something like this when you're done.  (Sorry about the blurry photo!)
Small forest of cake pop trees!

And inside...  bright festive red!
To decorate, use some extra melted candy coating to glue the decorations into place.  I attached a small star on the top of each tree, and mini candy canes, mini gingerbread men, and mini red holly berries.
For other trees, I dusted some powdered sugar onto them before decorating to simulate snow.

And now I will take my leave here...  time to spend some quality time with my own family!

Happy holidays to everyone, and happy cake popping!
