South Park Cake Pops

After all the cutsie-cutsie cake pops I'd made over the past several weeks, I decided I wanted to try out something that I had not seen done yet.  My husband suggested South Park cake pops.  Woo-hoo!  What an incredible suggestion it was!

South Park characters lend themselves perfectly for cake pop creation.  Their heads are generally roundish, and their features are simple.  After printing up some South Park character photos, I decided to try my hand at creating Kenny, Kyle, Stan, and Cartman.

First, I had to create flesh-colored coating.  This is a combination of white, pink, and yellow candy coating.  Easy!

Here is what all the flesh-heads looked like after the initial dip.  So far, so good!

Next was to create the hats for each character.  This will be a Cartman cake pop.  I had to smush two cake balls together to make one Cartman.  He's fat, after all.

Next, I dipped the top again in a blue candy coating.  This made for a nice, clean banding around the hat edges.

I only made two Cartman pops.  Should have made more- they were my favorite!

Here's Cartman!  I added a little extra yellow candy coating on the top of the hat for a tassel.  The eyes were very easy- I made them from fondant.  Simply roll two small pieces of fondant into balls, smush and shape.  They are glued on with some extra candy coating.

The mouth, double chin, and dots on the eyes were created with edible ink pens.

Now for Stan.  A simple dip in red candy coating.

Another dip in blue candy coating.  I used the leftover blue candy coating from Cartman's hat and added blue oil-based coloring until I got just the right color.

Add a few fondant eyes, a little tassel on top of the hat, and some accents with the edible ink pen, and voila!  It's Stan from South Park!

Making South Park Stan cake pops was easy!

Kenny from South Park.  He was a pain in the a$$ to make!   Okay, I started with a flesh colored pop.  Then I side-dipped in a custom orange color candy coating.  That was a huge mess and hassle!

Then I used my edible ink pens to fill in the brown area, and the black pen to create the eyes and details of the hood.  Fondant was used for the eyes.

The only nice thing about this pop is you can say, "Oh my god- I killed Kenny!" after you eat it.

I was stalling on how to make Kyle.  He wears a green hat with ear flaps.  How to make THAT on a cake pop?!

Marshmallows!  I thought this up while waiting for my son to fall asleep for his afternoon nap.

I took a small circle cutter and cut out a shape that could fit the cake pop.

Color Mist to the rescue!  I sprayed the heck out of the marshmallow and waited for it to dry.

Here are a few hats drying on their bamboo skewers.

I used a cut sliver of sour apple belt and sprayed that green, too.  It goes on the front of the hat.

Here is Kyle fully assembled!

I have recently found super-jumbo marshmallows, and I believe that they will work better than the regular sized ones.  But at least this works as the hat shape I wanted!

I sent some of these pics to the one and only Bakerella just to share my South Park creations with her.  And guess what?  She made me an official Pop Star on her website!   It feels awesome to be a Pop Star, if only for cake pops.  :)

Here ya go!  South Park cake pops!
