In today's blog, I'm throwing in some extra creations that I made one of. Yes, a single, unique cake pop of its own design. I was making a batch of cake pops with an orange-flavored coating and vanilla cake. A friend suggested that I make a Dreamsicle cake pop (orange sherbert with vanilla ice cream inside). I had some extra coating, but not much, so this is what I came up with!
I made a shape like a Dreamsicle with the cake ball. Then dipped!
A bite taken. And it does resemble a Dreamsicle. I would have made more if I had more candy coating available at the time. Must make more of these soon. Yum!
Okay, and I made one Charlie Brown. This was in a batch of South Park cake pops. I don't know how I thought of Charlie Brown amongst a group of foul-mouthed fourth graders! But the round flesh-colored head was screaming for a Charlie Brown doodle. So there ya go.
Now on to the Cupcake Cake Pops!
I used strawberry cake mix, and a flower-shaped cookie cutter. The cutter was about 1.5 inch across, and for me, it was too big. But I made it work. I ended up with fewer cake pops, but they were bigger than what I normally make.So the first step is to hand dip the bottoms of the cupcakes in coating (I used chocolate here). Try to cover as much of the bottom as you can while dipping. While the coating is still wet, put the stick in, and allow the coating to dry upside down.
After they dry, I put them in styrofoam to save space.
Next, I dipped the tops in pink candy coating, making sure to cover all exposed areas. I used a toothpick to help fill in small gaps. While still wet, I added a red M&M, and then topped with rainbow sprinkles.
Going....
Going....
Just about gone! Let me say that the strawberry cake and chocolate coating tasted amazing!
Assembled in a basket, and ready for Mother's Day!
